On My Wishlist (#7)

On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It's where I list all the books I desperately want but haven't actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming. It's also an event that you can join in with too - Mr Linky is always at the ready for you to link your own 'On My Wishlist' post. If you want to know more click here.

I have always books on my wislist. It never seems to stop but it doesn't bother me. I never get tired of books! Just wish I had more time to read them.

Anyway, this is my WishList.

By midnight by Mia James

(Goodreads)

April Dunne is not impressed. She's had to move from Edinburgh to Highgate, London, with her parents. She's left her friends - and her entire life - behind. She has to start at a new school and, worst of all, now she's stuck in a creepy old dump of a house which doesn't even have proper mobile phone reception. Ravenwood, her new school, is a prestigious academy for gifted (financially or academically) students - and the only place her parents could find her a place, in the middle of term, in the middle of London, on incredibly short notice. So she's stuck with the super-rich, and the super-smart . . . and trying to fit in is when the rest of the students seem to be more glamorous, smarter, or more talented than she is, is more than tough. It's intimidating and isolating, even when she finds a friend in the conspiracy-theorist Caro Jackson - and perhaps finds something more than friendship in the gorgeous, mysterious Gabriel Swift. But there's more going on at Ravenwood than meets the eye. Practical jokes on new students are normal, but when Gabriel saves her from . . . something . . . . in the Highgate Cemetery, and then she discovers that a murder took place, just yards away from where she had been standing, April has to wonder if something more sinister is going on. . . . and whether or not she's going to live through it . . .

The plot makes me really curious and today I read a great review from a Norwegian blog. And that blogger had only good words to say about this book. I have to admit I get a bit tired of about all the vampire books that's always coming but this one sounds a little different and interesting to me. So I hope to get to read it someday!

Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz

(Goodreads)

“The dead don't talk. I don't know why.” But they do try to communicate, with a short-order cook in a small desert town serving as their reluctant confidant. Odd Thomas thinks of himself as an ordinary guy, if possessed of a certain measure of talent at the Pico Mundo Grill and rapturously in love with the most beautiful girl in the world, Stormy Llewellyn. Maybe he has a gift, maybe it’s a curse, Odd has never been sure, but he tries to do his best by the silent souls who seek him out. Sometimes they want justice, and Odd’s otherworldly tips to Pico Mundo's sympathetic police chief, Wyatt Porter, can solve a crime. Occasionally they can prevent one. But this time it's different.

A mysterious man comes to town with a voracious appetite, a filing cabinet stuffed with information on the world's worst killers, and a pack of hyena-like shades following him wherever he goes. Who the man is and what he wants, not even Odd’s deceased informants can tell him. His most ominous clue is a page ripped from a day-by-day calendar for August 15.

Today is August 14.

In less than twenty-four hours, Pico Mundo will awaken to a day of catastrophe. As evil coils under the searing desert sun, Odd travels through the shifting prisms of his world, struggling to avert a looming cataclysm with the aid of his soul mate and an unlikely community of allies that includes the King of Rock 'n' Roll. His account of two shattering days when past and present, fate and destiny converge is the stuff of our worst nightmares—and a testament by which to live: sanely if not safely, with courage, humor, and a full heart that even in the darkness must persevere.

Random Thoughts

The past few years I've been reading a lot of Stephen King books but hardly a thing by Dean Koontz. I have read some books of him earlier though and I read the book Intensity in 2008 (and that was a great thriller. I highly recommend it. That is one of those books I'll never forget). So why I suddenly quit reading D.Koontz books is a mystery. But in a long time I've really wanted to read the Odd Thomas series really bad. But never gotten the chance to get the books and read it. There are always books coming in the way. You know the problem? But I hope to read it sometime soon 'cause I like the TV-series Ghost Whisperer a lot and Odd Thomas sounds similar with talking with the ghost thing. I think it's a interesting concept and hope I will get the chance to read it in a few years.

Bad friends by Claire Seeber

(Goodreads)
A terrible accident. A secret discovered. An inescapable nightmare. Who needs enemies with friends like these? The unnerving new novel from the acclaimed author of LULLABY

Random Thoughts

I read Lullaby a few years ago and wasn't all that impressed and thought maybe I wouldn't check out more books by Claire Seeber

Well, that was my list. Have you read anyone of these books and what do you guys think of them?
