On My WishList (#12)

On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted by Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It's where I list all the books I desperately want but haven't actually bought yet. They can be old, new or forthcoming. It's also an event that you can join in with too - Mr Linky is always at the ready for you to link your own 'On My Wishlist' post. If you want to know more click here.

Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman

(Goodreads)

When Richard Mayhew stops one day to help a girl he finds bleeding on a London sidewalk, his life is forever altered, for he finds himself propelled into an alternate reality that exists in a subterranean labyrinth of sewer canals and abandoned subway stations. He has fallen through the cracks of reality and has landed somewhere different, somewhere that is Neverwhere.

Random Thoughts

I've read two books by Neil Gaiman so far. Coraline was ok but I absolutely adored The Graveyardbook! And I definitely want to read more books by him and I'm planning to get Neverwhere someday 'cause I've only heard good things about it.

The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty

(Goodreads)

The classic novel about demonic possession.

Random Thoughts

I've seen the movie many times and didn't get scared once but I love the story and I would really like to read the book as well.

Rosemary's Baby by Ira Levin

(Goodreads)

Ira Levin's Rosemary's Baby has been reissued, and it reads even better now than it did when it first appeared. While the trappings are horror, the structure and tone of the story are those of a great middle-class crime story set in the turbulent '60s. A masterpiece.

Random Thoughts

I'm a sucker when it comes to horror movies. I never get tired of that genre. I love old horror movies better than modern but some modern horror movies is OK. I've seen this movie and always thought...why have I never read the book yet?

Frost by Marianna Baer

(Goodreads)

Leena Thomas’s senior year at boarding school begins with a shock: Frost House, her cozy dorm of close friends, has been assigned an unexpected roommate: confrontational, eccentric Celeste Lazar. But while Leena’s anxiety about a threat to her sanctuary proves valid, it becomes less and less clear whether the threat lies with her new roommate, within Leena’s own mind, or within the very nature of Frost House itself. Mysterious happenings in the dorm, an intense triangle between Leena, Celeste, and Celeste’s brother, and the reawakening of childhood fears, all push Leena to take increasingly desperate measures to feel safe. Frost is the story of a haunting. As to whether the demons are supernatural or psychological . . . well, which answer would let you sleep at night?

Random Thoughts

Haunting...boarding school. I don't need to say more, do I? Very curious about this one!
